Sacramento, California- Plastic surgery trends are published each year by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). The statistics are for cosmetic, minimally invasive procedures and reconstructive surgery. The statistics just published this March are for the entire year of 2014.
“ASPS” has over 7,000 Board Certified Plastic Surgeon members, which is more than 97% of all Board Certified Plastic Surgeons.
The report shows there were 15.6 million cosmetic procedures for 2014. 13.9 million were minimally invasive procedures and 1.6 million were cosmetic surgery procedures, an increase of 3% over 2013. Reconstructive procedures were 5.8 million which is an increase of 1% over 2013.
For men, the top 5 procedures were; liposuction, nose surgery, eyelid surgery, gynecomastia, and facelift surgery.
There was an amazing increase of gynecomastia surgery, or male breast reduction, cases of 14% for 2014. The total number reported was 26,175; this represents the largest annual increase to date.
